The price that matters

Shop for your actual usage, not the advertised rate.

Electricity plans can look inexpensive at one advertised usage level. We help you compare estimated costs using your home’s usage when available and review the fees and plan rules behind the rate, so a cheap-looking plan does not become an expensive surprise.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to choose an electricity company after moving to Texas?

In most deregulated parts of Texas, yes, you choose a retail electricity provider. Municipal utilities and electric cooperatives may work differently, and the marketplace will use your ZIP and service address to determine whether competitive plans are available.

Can I enroll without leaving I Moved to Texas?

Yes. Select “Show plans for my home” to open our focused marketplace, where you can review plans and complete the process without being sent to another comparison website.

Will my power get shut off while I switch providers?

No. Your local transmission and distribution utility continues delivering electricity and handling outages. Changing retail providers changes the company and plan that bills you for electricity, not the wires serving your home.

Is the marketplace free to use?

Yes. There is no fee to use the marketplace. If you enroll through it, I Moved to Texas may receive compensation. Always review the final price, Electricity Facts Label, and contract documents before enrolling.

Why does the exact service address matter?

A ZIP code can cross utility boundaries, and some nearby addresses may not participate in retail electricity choice. Your exact service address is used to confirm plan availability and enrollment requirements.
